Saint Mark's Music Series
Thank you for joining us for the 2019-20 season! We are currently planning our 2020-21 season and will release concert details in the fall.
As part of our cathedral’s music program, the Music Series is called to offer its musical riches to the wider community so that all can experience the unique acoustical environment, superb pipe organs, and talented musicians dedicated to making music in a sacred space.

2019-2020 Music Series: Concerts
LIVESTREAMED: All-Bach On The Flentrop
MICHAEL KLEINSCHMIDT, ORGANIST
Right now Bach is as essential as ever, and we are excited to be able to bring Bach to your homes through livestreaming. Michael Kleinschmidt, Canon for Cathedral Music, will offer a 70-minute program featuring three of Bach’s famous Toccatas and Fugues, and Bach’s monumental Passacaglia. In addition, Canon Kleinschmidt will offer brief commentary from the organ console about the music and the Flentrop organ itself.
View the livestream here.
While this was offered freely for all to enjoy, donations in support of Saint Mark’s Music Series are gratefully received.
2019-2020 Music Series: Liturgies
The "O" Antiphons
Advent Procession with Lessons and Carols
This beloved annual liturgy of music and pageantry celebrates the beginning of Advent —the season of longing, vigilance, and expectation in preparation for Christmas. With the Cathedral Choir, the Compline Choir, and the Senior Choristers of Saint Mark’s Choir School.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 1
Free will offering.
The Choir School choristers, Cathedral Evensong Choir, and young children of Saint Mark’s join forces in this dramatic telling of the nativity story. Costumes of cathedral finery, dramatic lighting within cathedral architecture, and over fifty choristers accompanied by chamber orchestra and the Flentrop organ will bring the story of the birth of Christ to life. Learn more and see video of previous years' pageants here.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17
Free will offering.
FIRST SUNDAYS, OCTOBER-MAY 4:30 P.M.
Choral Evensong is a treasure among Christian liturgies in the Anglican tradition. Saint Mark’s Evensong Choir comprises an adult subgroup of the Cathedral Choir, with advanced boy and girl choristers and the teenaged Schola of Saint Mark’s Choir School. In July, 2018, this choir sang daily Evensong as choir-in-residence for one week each at Ely Cathedral and Saint Paul’s Cathedral, London. Learn more about the Evensong Choir here.
